Configuration

After initial setup, configure your Asset Pro structure by defining industries, classification hierarchies, and custom attributes.

What's in Configuration

This section contains 3 documents:

1. Industries

Define top-level organizational containers for different asset types.

What: Create industry codes (FLEET, IT, MEDICAL) with names and descriptions.

Why: Separate different business areas with distinct classification structures.

Who: Administrators during initial setup.

2. Classifications

Build hierarchical categorization structures within each industry.

What: Create levels (Type → Category → Model) and values with parent-child relationships.

Why: Organize and filter assets by business taxonomy.

Who: Administrators, power users.

3. Attributes

Define custom fields specific to industries or classification levels.

What: Add industry-specific fields (Cargo Capacity, RAM, Serial Number) with appropriate data types.

Why: Capture asset-specific data without code changes.

Who: Administrators, subject matter experts.

Configuration Order

Recommended sequence:

  1. Industries first - Create industry codes

  2. Classifications second - Build hierarchy for each industry

  3. Attributes third - Add custom fields as needed

Or use AI Setup Wizard - Generates all three automatically from business description.

See: AI Setup Wizard

Configuration Approaches

Option 1: AI Setup Wizard (Fastest)

  • Describe your business in natural language

  • AI generates complete structure automatically

  • 5 minutes to full configuration

  • See: AI Setup Wizard

Option 2: Demo Data Import (Learning)

  • Import pre-built industries (FLEET, IT, MEDICAL)

  • Explore working configuration

  • Modify for your needs

  • See: Demo Data & Configuration Packages

Option 3: Manual Configuration (Most Control)

  • Create industries one by one

  • Design classification hierarchy carefully

  • Add attributes as needed

  • Read this Configuration section

Quick Start: Manual Configuration

Example: Fleet Management Industry

Step 1: Create Industry

  1. Open Asset Industries page

  2. Create new: FLEET / Fleet Management

  3. Save

Step 2: Create Classification Levels

  1. Open Classification Levels (filter: Industry = FLEET)

  2. Create levels:

    • Level 1: Fleet Type

    • Level 2: Vessel Category

    • Level 3: Vessel Model

Step 3: Create Classification Values

  1. Open Classification Values

  2. Level 1 values: COMMERCIAL, FISHING, PASSENGER

  3. Level 2 values: CARGO (parent: COMMERCIAL), TANKER (parent: COMMERCIAL)

Step 4: Create Attributes

  1. Open Attribute Definitions (filter: Industry = FLEET)

  2. Create attributes:

    • Cargo Capacity (Decimal, Level 0)

    • IMO Number (Text, Level 0)

    • Vessel Condition (Option, Level 0)

Time: ~30 minutes for complete industry setup

After Configuration

Once configuration complete:

  • Create assets using structure (See: Asset Management)
